Many technical processes such as semiconductor fabrication, medical technology or material testing are conducted in a vacuum. A high level of vacuum-tightness is a key requirement for many of the components used in these processes. In addition, the materials used must not degas in a vacuum.

DOCERAM high-performance ceramics, such as aluminium oxide, CERAZUR and VOLCERA, are ideally suited to these types of processes. Their densely sintered structure allows them to be used in ultra-high vacuums.

Sample applications include components made of high-performance ceramics that are used as insulators and mountings in coating processes.

Compatible materials

Aluminium oxide

Aluminium oxide is the oxygen compound of the element aluminium. The raw material for this substance is the aluminium ore bauxite. Caustic soda lye is used for splitting this ore into aluminium hydroxide. Calcination and complex grinding processes…

Cerazur®

When used in technical applications, Cerazur offers enormous potential for designing procedures and processes that are more stable, durable and ultimately more reliable.

EvoCera®

EvoCera is an innovative material combining the properties of the latest high-performance ceramics with the ductility of steel.

Silicon nitride

Silicon nitride is characterised by a range of properties that make it a very interesting choice for industrial applications.

Volcera

Volcera is characterised by a range of properties that make it a very interesting choice for industrial applications.

Zirconium oxide

Zirconium oxide is an inorganic non-metal material that belongs to the group of oxide ceramics.

ZM-131

ZrO2-MgO is a high-performance ceramic made of zirconium oxide partially stabilised with magnesium oxide. Our newly developed DOCERAM ZM-131 extends our material portfolio in the field of zirconium oxide ceramic materials.

Latest applications

Picking

In manufacturing and processing companies, components are picked and held in position in the different processing steps.

Sealing

Pumps are indispensable components of many industrial processes used in plant operations. The unexpected failure of bearings and the occurrence of leaks due to failed seals lead to downtimes, high outage costs and major safety risks - especially if…

Fixing

In an engineering context, fixing something means keeping a component in its intended position at all times, either cyclically or permanently.

Guiding

Guiding means keeping something in position and is therefore roughly equivalent to positioning, directing and deflecting. For instance, lateral guide gibs can be used to deflect components on a conveyor belt in order to reposition them.

Positioning

Positioning elements made from high-performance ceramics are used at various points in car manufacturing, including in car body construction.
