Positioning pins are far less susceptible to weld spatter, extremely high temperatures and high mechanical stress than conventional pins made from hardened steel, which is why they impress with service lives that are up to 20 times longer. Positioning pins made from high-performance ceramics do not need to be replaced as often, plants can run with fewer interruptions while process and maintenance costs are significantly lower.
Positioning pins are often subjected to very high wear because they are used to hold laser-cut – and therefore extremely sharp-edged – moulded sheet metal parts. Conventional metal pins are unable to cope with such loads which explains why high-performance ceramic pins are preferred. The ceramic positioning pins are characterised above all by longer service lives, superior precision not to mention better reliability.
These pins are made from an assembly that contains a ceramic head made from DOCREAM CERAZUR and a stainless steel foot.
The new company standard for DOCERAM positioning pins satisfies the highest mechanical demands and uses the standardised modular system to offer rapidly available combination possibilities to meet numerous requirements. It is based on standard components with four all-ceramic head geometries and three stainless-steel foot variants, which guarantee faster machining and shorter delivery times. Both components are connected by a new joining technology that is precisely adapted to the specific geometries of head and foot in each case.
