Ceramic cylindrical pins - also referred to as dowel pins - are extremely versatile and are used as stops, as bearing shafts for idler pulleys, as printed circuit board holders or for fixture construction in welding technology. The components are also available as a pull version (with an internal thread).
They are used for constructing welding devices because they are electrically insulating and manufactured to ultra-precise tolerances. Previous applications were steel pins with plastic insulation. However, plastics cannot meet the high degree of precision required which means that the toleranced size can no longer be maintained once they are hammered into the bore.
